How It Works

Earned Admission is powered by ASU’s Universal Learner Courses (ULCs). These courses are first-year ASU college courses offered online and open to everyone.

Through ULCs, you can gain college experience prior to enrolling, earn credit for a fraction of the cost and pay only if you pass the course. Once you complete your required ULC courses with a 2.75 GPA or higher, you have the opportunity to gain admission into ASU, or transfer your credits to another institution that accepts ASU credits. Learners under 22 complete 24 credit hours, and those 22 or older only need to complete 12 credit hours with a 2.75 GPA or higher.

Ready to go? Follow the steps below to register for ULCs.

1

Register

Begin the process

Begin by submitting an application to ASU (including all required materials).

Once you have received an admission status of “Pending Your Decision” or guidance from an enrollment coach, you may register for Universal Learner Courses.

The application is not mandatory to begin completing courses. However, if you complete your required courses and don’t have an application on file, your start date at ASU could be delayed.

2

Receive access

Check your email

You’ll receive an email within 1-2 business days of registering with your ASURITE ID, which you’ll use to log in to your dashboard.

3

Enroll in your courses

Pay to complete enrollment

Use your ASURITE ID to log in to the learner dashboard. Enroll in your courses by paying the $25 course enrollment fee.

If this is your first time registering for Universal Learner Courses, you’ll be prompted to verify your identity by providing a photo of yourself and a government-issued ID.

If you’re a minor (under the age of 18), you may provide a birth certificate and photo to begin the course, but a government-issued ID will be required in order to take a proctored exam and complete the course.

For more information on which courses to select, review our Course Catalog.

4

Start your course

Log in. Launch the course. Learn something new.

Complete your coursework by submitting all requested assignments by the due dates listed in the course schedule.

At the end of some courses, you’ll need to take an online proctored exam. You must take this exam during the time that it is open. For more information, read the following resources on exams:

5

Receive credit

Pay and add to your transcript

Congratulations…you’ve completed your course! If you’re happy with your grade, pay the $400 course fee within one year and receive academic credit, which will appear on your myASU page and your official ASU transcript.

Some things to consider before adding a course to your transcript:

  • You don’t have to add the courses to your transcript, so think carefully before transcripting a “C” grade, as it could affect your overall GPA as you apply to college. With Universal Learner Courses, you can decide the next step.
  • You won’t be able to retake ULCs once you’ve transcripted, so be sure you’re happy with your grade before paying.
  • If you want to take the course for a better grade, you can! Just sign up to take the course again and only pay when you are satisfied.
6

Earn admission into ASU

Or transfer your credits to another university

You’ll meet the aptitude requirements for general university admission when you complete your required courses with a 2.75 GPA or higher. If you’re under 22, you’ll need to complete 24 credit hours, if you’re 22 or older you’ll only need to complete 12 credit hours. If you have submitted an application and all required materials to ASU, you’ll be eligible for admission.

Please note, learners cannot earn admission while still enrolled in high school.

If you are not interested in pursuing your studies at ASU, no problem! You’ll have a transcript you can provide to any university that accepts ASU credits. This can be done from your myASU home page under the My Classes section.
